At the risk of sounding old I must say this. Is it me, or are newborns stronger and smarter now a days? At five days old, little Anderson can lift her head and look around the room no problem. She was very alert and a complete angel during her newborn session yesterday, and it may be coincidence but she smiled a couple of times while I was talking to her about her mommy :)

This wonderful family booked their newborn session a while back and after much anticipation, their first baby girl finally arrived. I got to spend yesterday morning with them and their newborn princess and loved every minute of it.

Thank you guys for welcoming me into your home to document this amazing season of your lives. I can tell Anderson will be surrounded by so much love. Congratulations!

I have an announcement I am super-excited about! We are now offering custom framing for our clients!

We truly believe that special art should be showcased in style, so we have partenered with a local moulding company to offer a superior quality product that is unique, durable, and simply gorgeous. I picked up the first few this week and I am just thrilled with the quality of workmanship.

Moulding samples will be available at your in-home personalized ordering appointment in which I am pleased to offer design consultations. Your wall prints will be delivered matted, framed, and ready to hang.

Here are some of the ones I picked up this week!

Bridget is going to be very smart, I can sense it. She is also going to be a swimmer.

At fourteen days old, she flails her arms, kicks up a storm, speaks her mind, and wiggles out of her swaddle faster than you can say diaper rash.

I was finally able to get a few snaps of my beautiful, one-of-a-kind Godchild. I am thrilled to be a part of her life and watch her grow.

My husband and I have an amazing marriage; yesterday we celebrated our 10th anniversary.

When I say amazing I don’t mean perfect. We have had our laughs, silly races around the house, pulled pranks on each other, and are like glue, always stuck together. We have also had problems and fights; but somehow we have grown better and stronger rather than apart.

We are completely different people than who we were ten years ago, yet I love him more today than I ever have. He thinks I am the smartest person in the world, he brags about me, and supports my dreams. He makes me a better person.

This is the first picture of us, ever. :)

I was 20 and he was 24. He had a motorcycle that I hated and never got on, so eventually he sold it. I was a salsa dancer and he was an all-american marine.

And these we took today… two kids, one dog, and three houses later.

So Happy Anniversary to my dear husband and I. This amazing adventure is only the beginning, and I know the best is yet to come :)

One of my dearest friends is about to have a baby. This little girl is going to be born into so much love: from an amazing, huge family of strong women, two big sisters who are so excited to meet her, and a bunch of devoted friends who are going to spoil her rotten ;) My friend is extremely blessed to have such a support system, I couldn’t be happier for her.

Today we celebrated baby B’s upcoming arrival with an intimate, relaxed baby shower. It was unusually warm for January, a beautiful, sunny day. We indulged in some scrumptious desserts and good conversation and had a truly memorable afternoon. Here are some of the details:

The decor was executed by the talented interior designer Misty Smith.

“A Piece of Cake” in Tyrone, GA made the gorgeous two tier marble cake with caramel filling that was to-die-for. Martha with “A Piece of Cake” reproduced our bird theme beautifully in this custom creation. The flavor and texture of this cake was just amazing; needless to say, it was all gone by the end of the party.

Instead of the traditional games, the guests each hand-made a bird ornament out of eclectic, mismatched fabric, and inserted a wish for the baby before closing it. These birds are going to decorate a mobile that will go in the nursery. Isn’t that the cutest idea?

And finally, just a few of the girls having fun :)

If you saw how happy I get when the temperatures drop and the prospect of snow is on the horizon, you wouldn’t think I was born in the middle of the Caribbean. Four inches of the fluffy white stuff is forecasted for Sunday and Monday, and it’s Christmas all over again at my house. The kids are over-excited; ok, the parents are over-excited too, discussing the necessary equipment to turn my steep front-yard into a wintery slide.

At some point this afternoon I opened the doors to my front porch and found this view. For a while I thought maybe the forecast was wrong and snow would arrive earlier. I was in awe of the beauty of this angry sky and just had to shoot it. I then smiled as I remembered that sometimes there is beauty in the anticipation of a great event. There is so much beauty around us every single day.

According to some locals this is the first time in 17 years it snows on Christmas in Atlanta; hurray! My friends up North may be laughing at our enthusiasm right now, but truth is, we enjoy every little bit we get, even if it is just a few miniscule snowflakes. There is something magical about snow that makes the world brighter and more cheerful, and specially around Christmas time.

Now being born and raised in an island in the Caribbean, my tolerance for cold temperatures is something to be ashamed of; I only lasted about fifteen minutes outside. Enough to get involved in a snowball fight with the girls and get a few snapshots of the action. My goal: to get some thermal gloves and long-johns so I am better prepared when February comes around.

Some of my favorites from today,

Yesterday, someone very close to me called to tell me they had received a check for just enough to pay an outstanding debt that was about to go to collection and they had been stressing about. This is someone who has gone through a rough time, and doesn’t have the strongest faith. This friend’s words to me were: “He truly gives you exactly what you need when you need it. It’s incredible, He never abandons us and is always bailing us out.” :)

This incredible Source that we call God, our source of love, faith, hope, and everything else good, is limitless in His generosity. Thousands of years ago tomorrow, we received the greatest gift of all from His greatness, an extraordinary Son to bring us closer to Him and remind us of that goodness that still prevails in our hearts, of the awesomeness we are capable of, and the bountiful universe we live in, one of unlimited resources. A light to remind us of where we come from, what we are part of, and where we are going.

Tomorrow morning when my kids’ eyes sparkle as they open their presents I will smile and my heart will jump with joy. This is the best time of the year… a season of giving, a celebration of generosity, of the plentiful world we live in. Although we give more love, give more food, give time, and give presents, the more we give, the fuller our cup is, we never run out. And for that gift, I thank you Lord.

Cheers to giving!

My friend Stephanie was very kind to be my model yesterday. “Kind” may not be a good-enough word actually; I did drag her around town in a huge wedding dress in the middle of Friday afternoon traffic and made her the object of several whistles and a lot of curiosity. Eeeek! :)

Steph, they say that everyone who enters our lives does so for a reason, and I must have entered yours to give you thick skin. Not only are you a great friend but you are also gorgeous! Enjoy looking at the images :)

The stunning wedding gown was again, from Etain Bridal Boutique in Ashley Park, Newnan.

I love having daughters; playing dress-up and princess and having tea parties. I am blessed beyond belief with my two girls, but when I was younger, I always pictured myself as the mother of boys. So it’s no surprise that despite being very girly girls, my little princesses play wizards and knights, dream about their first car being a 1969 Mustang GT500 in grabber blue, and can throw a football better than I ever could, all with a fuschia boa wrapped around their neck.

Yet, when I get to photograph boys, a whole new world opens up to me. I love their mischief and spunk. Their constant wrestling and fearlessness in grabbing a frog or lizzard. Boys have an appeal and beauty of their own.

These two were a little shy and as sweet as can be. Here are my favorite shots of our session.

When I first got there, this little one wanted nothing to do with me.

But we soon became friends..

This boy has the creamiest skin I have ever seen, and look at those freckles!

I love being witness to this kind of bond between siblings. These two truly love each other.

This is their spirited dog Dasher, I think she wants to be a photographer when she grows up, she kept going for the camera ;-)

Thank you for letting me document your lives. Enjoy your sneak peek!
