It was colder than usual for a May afternoon yesterday, when Marie, Shane and I met for their engagement session. But the chilly weather was just the perfect excuse to snuggle up for these two lovebirds. Shane has this remarkable ability to make Marie laugh and I was delighted to see them interact and capture their undeniable chemistry.

This couple is extremely crafty and detail oriented. Every time we get together I get exponentially more excited about their wedding, that is going to be packed with thoughtful details and tokens of their relationship. I have a feeling it will also be a very emotional, special day and I can’t wait to document it.

Here is their very sweet sneak peek.

Something that I didn’t expect is happening, and I am loving it.

My husband, second shooter, and partner in crime gets kudos, accolades even, at weddings. I hear things like:

‚ÄúI couldn‚Äôt have spent those 30 minutes waiting with anyone better than you, John. Thank you.‚ÄĚ ¬†from a groom. And at the wedding prior to that one after the bride, microphone in hand, made a toast to her parents and bridesmaids, she proceeded to say: ‚Äúand John, you rock!‚ÄĚ. Haha!

The truth is, while I develop these amazing relationships with brides, at the wedding I am so focused in getting every shot, every moment, that John steps in to offer emergency assistance, bond with the couple, offer emotional support, and throw in the occasional, totally necessary humor to lighten a tough situation.

He doesn’t want to be a full-time photographer, and hates it if I treat him like one. But he supports me and shares in this dream that I am living; and for being my rock and right hand I am forever grateful.

Ana is right, my husband rocks!

The small bridal cottage at Meadowlark Gardens was a whirlwind of garment bags, feminine laughter and floral perfume as I returned from photographing the groom and his family. “West is dying to see you” I told Meagan and her mega-watt smile beamed unabashedly, and nervously. The day was¬†racing up to this moment when they would see each other in private for the first time. Trying to approach it calmly, delaying it almost an impossibility. Meagan and West are so drawn to each other, almost magnetically. This energy permeated through their first look, and their beautiful wedding this past weekend. Looking back through the photos I could feel it in every image.¬†The way they look at each other just radiates love.

Here is a small peek into their day…

He was the youngest of us four by a few years. My sister, his brother, and I used to play cards, dominoes, and chinese checkers, and since he was too young to play, he would sabotage our games by throwing toys and suddenly jumping into it, knocking off the pieces. We called him “the group-breaker”.

Over twenty years later, my little cousin has grown into this unbelievably caring, strong man, and he’s found a woman with an equally beautiful soul to share his life with.

They were buddies since middle school and lost touch somehow after graduation. He had always liked her but it seemed like their relationship was destined to be only a friendship. When they met again after several years through mutual friends and found out they were both single, the old attraction was rekindled almost immediately and they have been inseparable ever since.

This December he took her to Disney World with a ring, a one-of-a-kind fortune cookie, and a plan. “I was so nervous, I had to make sure I kept her on the opposite side of where the ring and the cookie were in my jacket, or she would have known” Roldan said to me during their session. Ana loves to read her fortune and after dinner at their favorite restaurant, she¬†broke her cookie to find that the message inside was “Will you marry me?”. She was laughing histerically, thinking “what are the odds?” until she saw Roldan getting down on one knee and the laughter turned into tears of happiness.

Here are my favorites from their engagement session in Miami this weekend. I was swooning over the location and how gorgeous these two are! Can you say GQ material?

Ana, you are seriously, ridiculously gorgeous!

And Roldan is not far behind :)

The weather was gorgeous in Miami this weekend, after shooting for a little while we needed something to cool off and what’s better than a healthy frozen yogurt treat?

As the sun was setting we made a quick run to the Coconut Grove Marina for some last shots.

One of my dearest friends is about to have a baby. This little girl is going to be born into so much love: from an amazing,¬†huge family of strong women, two big sisters who are so excited to meet her, and a bunch of devoted friends who are going to spoil her rotten ;) My friend is extremely blessed to have such a support system, I couldn’t be happier for her.

Today we celebrated¬†baby B’s¬†upcoming arrival with an intimate, relaxed baby shower. It was unusually warm for January, a beautiful, sunny day. We indulged in some scrumptious desserts and¬†good conversation and had a truly memorable afternoon. Here are some of the details:

The decor was executed by the talented interior designer Misty Smith.

“A Piece of Cake” in Tyrone, GA made the gorgeous two tier marble cake with caramel filling that was to-die-for. Martha with “A Piece of Cake” reproduced our bird theme beautifully in this custom creation. The flavor and texture of this cake was just amazing; needless to say, it was all gone by the end of the party.

Instead of the traditional games, the guests each hand-made a bird ornament out of eclectic, mismatched fabric, and¬†inserted a wish for the baby before closing it. These birds are going to decorate a mobile that will go in the nursery. Isn’t that the cutest idea?

And finally, just a few of the girls having fun :)

Two snow/ice falls so far this winter… yipeee! The most we’ve had since we moved to Georgia. This morning I decided to pay a small tribute to photography master Ansel Adams, and I ventured out in the ice to get some black and white shots of our humble winter wonderland. So bundled up in my coziest winter gear (that still didn’t do the job, blame it on being a hot-blooded latina) I went for a walk crossing my fingers that I wouldn’t slip on the ice and shatter my lens.

There something about walking alone in the snow that is so peaceful. It has an appeal of its own. The birds have left their homes, the streets are isolated. The only sound resonating in my ears was the crunchy layers of ice swooshing under the weight of my rubber boots; and the¬†now bare, skinny tree branches shivering when¬†kissed by the icy rushes of wind. It’s like the world, nature is holding it’s breath in awe of its own beauty. I smiled the entire way (ok, I smiled about half the time, and the rest of the time I held my scarf over my numb face) and I came back home energized.

I had an amazing photo session with these two lovebirds yesterday! Not only are they are drop-dead-gorgeous couple but also so sweet and FUN! I couldn’t help but include some of our funny outtakes amongst the pretty shots.¬†It was extremely difficult to narrow it down to just a few because they were honestly all fabulous so forgive me for the length of this post :)

The setting is Hotel Palomar, one of my favorites in midtown Atlanta. Their modern yet inviting decor is breathtaking and the staff is top notch. This would be my choice of wedding venue if I were getting married in the city today; an intimate yet sophisticated retreat. The Hotel Palomar can accomodate up to 500 guests for cocktails and 370 for dinner. Catering is provided by their own Pacci Ristorante, which produces mouth-watering american and italian cuisine elegantly presented. For more information about having your wedding at this to-die-for venue please click on this link.

The exquisite gown is a Jasmine Haute Couture creation courtesy of Etain Bridal Boutique located in Ashley Park in Newnan. Etain offers a large and varied collection of designer bridal gowns in the South Atlanta area, but most important of all, they are NICE :) and down to earth. The ladies at Etain are committed to providing a personalized experience¬†in finding and purchasing the most important gown you’ll ever wear. They also offer upscale mother of the bride, bridal party, and prom gowns.

Now on to my faves from yesterday:

Don’t quite remember what started this…

Soooo romantic…

This one makes me smile~

I will be working on an exciting project over the next week in conjunction with some amazing wedding vendors here in South Atlanta, and wanted to share some images from our first photo shoot.

The Coweta Club at Arbor Springs Plantation is one of Newnan’s best kept secret when it comes to fine dining. Previously only available to Arbor Springs residents, The Coweta Club now welcomes the public and is a gorgeous, elegant¬†venue for your wedding, accomodating up to 350 guests. Award-winning Executive Chef Lance Jeffers¬†has created a¬†menu¬†that puts sophistication and a modern touch on¬†american cuisine.¬†The staff truly goes out of their way to make a memorable experience for you with attention to detail and impeccable service.

The fabulous wedding gowns are courtesy of Etain Bridal Boutique, now relocated from Tyrone, Georgia to Ashley Park in Newnan. Etain has a gorgeous selection of gowns by top designers such as Jasmine, Allure, and Matthew Christopher. The staff at Etain makes finding and purchasing your wedding gown the joyful, one-of-a-kind experience that it should be, with five years of experience in the wedding gown industry, personalized service with knowledgeable, caring staff, and the best selection of bridal gowns in South Atlanta.

I spent some time this afternoon photographing this blue-eyed beauty. She is an aspiring actress and model with some impressive roles under her belt already. Here are a couple of my favorite shots from our session:

I love kids. I remember being in such a rush to grow up and now I long for the freedom of being a child. We think we’ll be free when we reach adulthood¬†but little do we know that childhood is true freedom.¬†I wish I could get that message across to my kids: enjoy that feeling of complete adventure and spontaineity that you have right now, absorb every minute of your innocence, but I sound like an adult when I say those things.

It took about a millisecond to convince these kids to lay on the grass and roll down the slope of their backyard;¬†their parents are probably going to remember me for a long time thanks to my little idea. :) ¬†If I could postpone twilight and hadn’t had 20 lbs. of photographic equipment on me, I would have rolled down the hill with them (again, adult thinking). In retrospect, I wish I would have and then their parents would remember me for a long time as a complete lunatic.

These kids have the most amazing personalities; we hit it off right away and although I didn’t roll down the hill with them we did hold hands and skipped down the road together. Here are some of my favorites from our afternoon.
