I had the pleasure to photograph two lovely girls in Miami this week. They are both very sweet ladies and I had a great time setting such pretty subjects against some of the most beautiful scenery in South Florida.

Stay tuned for more of these two sessions. Here is a little taste of them:

With this couple and me it may have been love at first sight, we clicked from the very beginning and there just isn’t much I haven’t already said about them.

Maybe except that Kristy is one of the funniest people I know. Yes, she is beautiful, and she is just as beautiful on the inside, not for one moment taking herself too seriously, or demanding to be the center of attention, but naturally radiating that genuine happiness that draws everyone to her.

That draws Chris to her.

He lead, managed, took care of details behind the scenes on his wedding day, making sure everything was perfect, not to impress, but for her. So that his bride would have her perfect day. He has this innate ability to give and put others first.

Kristy, Chris, it was such an honor to be part of your day. Here are my favorites from your beautiful wedding:

I love it when one of my sweet¬†nice couples refer to me their equally nice friends. Brittany, Justin and I hadn’t officially met in person before their engagement session today, and I was so glad to find that we hit it off immediately and had an absolute blast.

The chemistry between these two is off the charts! As I uploaded their images from our time together and worked them, I couldn’t help but feel the sparks flying between them.

Brittany and Justin: Thank you so much for allowing me to orchestrate and document this celebration of your commitment to each other, and be witness to your bond. Keep holding on to one another tight!

We started at the field where Justin coaches football. After a lot of persuasion, he has finally turned his better half into a Missouri fan…

Brittany you looked so cute in your Missouri¬†University tee it’s not even funny.¬†:)

I believe the following set is my favorite:

Then they glammed it up several notches for some shots out on the town.

There is more! View the complete slideshow of Brittany and Justin here.

Summer is the time when everything slows down. The hotter the thermostat registers, the greater the need for lazy time by the pool or the lake, for late afternoon picnics, outdoor cooking, naps, reading carefree novels.

The way kids embrace the summer philosophy of life is invigorating. Unplanned moments turn perfect as impromptu concerts in the park and popsicle laced bicycle rides develop. I caught my girls in one of those wonderfully unstructured moments today. Here is a glimpse into their summer.

I feel like it’s Christmas morning every time I get a shipment of wedding albums. Maybe it’s the fact that I am an avid reader and books appeal to me. Seeing the¬†story of a wedding told through a beautifully bound leather book makes the memories tangible and ever-lasting. I love the feeling of picking up a fat, heavy, luxurious volume and sitting down with a cup of tea to look through old memories.

I believe a great wedding album should be timeless, so I keep mine clean and simple. I want my brides to be just as proud of their investment twenty years from now as they were when they received it. This one was a gorgeous Italian gray leather with a modern square layout and lettering.

The inside design is as streamlined as the exterior. I avoid busy collages that take away from the main focus: beautiful images that tell the story of the day.

A companion album is a smaller, more portable version of the wedding¬†book. It can easily be taken with you to work or¬†get-togethers to share with wedding memories with your friends and family.¬†They also make excellent thank-you gifts to parents. They are classic and chic covered in buttery leather and engraved with the bride and groom’s names or a special quote.

Georgia has grown on me in the past four years, or is it five? When I first moved to this small town from a big, bustling city, I felt so out of place. Rather than being soothed, envigorated by its expansiveness I felt smothered.

As the months went by and I drove through the quiet country roads to our new home in Newnan, its peace started growing on me. The pastures, the cows, the intense green and painted white houses surrounding my neighborhood became nurturing, familiar. I still get my fill of the city life when I go visit my parents several times a year, but inevitably, as I drive back to my southern house in Georgia, it feels like home.

I am moving this weekend; just¬†fifteen minutes away from my current home. This is a new, exciting chapter of our family’s life and I am so excited to be at this stage. But as I hustled to get last minute details squared away for moving, I had to pause and photograph some spots that I have become attached to. Spots I drive by every day and have become part of that comforting, homey scenery that helped me fall in love with Georgia.

When I was working in Miami last month I photographed this beauty and her session just never made it into my blog.

I had so much fun working with Marla. She is seventeen and one of the most happy, genuine people I know. Us cubans do this huge celebration when a girl turns fifteen; it represents a coming of age, and entering society as a lady. A huge part of this tradition is a photo shoot in a formal, princess-like gown and other fashionable outfits. How fun is that?!

Life got in the way for Marla around her fifteenth birthday. So here we are, two years later, catching up with tradition and having a blast while doing it. The plus side is less pressure to perform. At seventeen Marla has an amazing outlook in life and a real knack for letting go and having the time of her life, even if her heels are killing her.

It was colder than usual for a May afternoon yesterday, when Marie, Shane and I met for their engagement session. But the chilly weather was just the perfect excuse to snuggle up for these two lovebirds. Shane has this remarkable ability to make Marie laugh and I was delighted to see them interact and capture their undeniable chemistry.

This couple is extremely crafty and detail oriented. Every time we get together I get exponentially more excited about their wedding, that is going to be packed with thoughtful details and tokens of their relationship. I have a feeling it will also be a very emotional, special day and I can’t wait to document it.

Here is their very sweet sneak peek.

Wedding season starts tomorrow, and I am going to be busy for a while. So today I went out for the last time to document that breathtaking transformation that is spring; my favorite season (I think I mentioned that before).

My favorite season, my favorite tree. Beauty surrounds me everywhere I look and reminds me to be thankful for this amazing life that I’ve been given, in this colorful, spectacular planet called Earth.

He was the youngest of us four by a few years. My sister, his brother, and I used to play cards, dominoes, and chinese checkers, and since he was too young to play, he would sabotage our games by throwing toys and suddenly jumping into it, knocking off the pieces. We called him “the group-breaker”.

Over twenty years later, my little cousin has grown into this unbelievably caring, strong man, and he’s found a woman with an equally beautiful soul to share his life with.

They were buddies since middle school and lost touch somehow after graduation. He had always liked her but it seemed like their relationship was destined to be only a friendship. When they met again after several years through mutual friends and found out they were both single, the old attraction was rekindled almost immediately and they have been inseparable ever since.

This December he took her to Disney World with a ring, a one-of-a-kind fortune cookie, and a plan. “I was so nervous, I had to make sure I kept her on the opposite side of where the ring and the cookie were in my jacket, or she would have known” Roldan said to me during their session. Ana loves to read her fortune and after dinner at their favorite restaurant, she¬†broke her cookie to find that the message inside was “Will you marry me?”. She was laughing histerically, thinking “what are the odds?” until she saw Roldan getting down on one knee and the laughter turned into tears of happiness.

Here are my favorites from their engagement session in Miami this weekend. I was swooning over the location and how gorgeous these two are! Can you say GQ material?

Ana, you are seriously, ridiculously gorgeous!

And Roldan is not far behind :)

The weather was gorgeous in Miami this weekend, after shooting for a little while we needed something to cool off and what’s better than a healthy frozen yogurt treat?

As the sun was setting we made a quick run to the Coconut Grove Marina for some last shots.
