When I was working in Miami last month I photographed this beauty and her session just never made it into my blog.

I had so much fun working with Marla. She is seventeen and one of the most happy, genuine people I know. Us cubans do this huge celebration when a girl turns fifteen; it represents a coming of age, and entering society as a lady. A huge part of this tradition is a photo shoot in a formal, princess-like gown and other fashionable outfits. How fun is that?!

Life got in the way for Marla around her fifteenth birthday. So here we are, two years later, catching up with tradition and having a blast while doing it. The plus side is less pressure to perform. At seventeen Marla has an amazing outlook in life and a real knack for letting go and having the time of her life, even if her heels are killing her.

Sometime in mid-February, my family and I get desperate for warmer weather. The holidays have passed, we get a little bit of snow to fulfill our winter cravings, and then we suddenly become impatient with the cold temperatures and the dull, grayish landscape and start dreaming of hikes, dips in the lake, and bonfires.

As if our prayers had been answered, we have had a gorgeous week, warm enough to spend our days outside. We’ve taken bike rides, dipped our feet on the lake (although it’s still freezing), and rolled around on the grass, wishing it back to life.

Some early morning photos of my kids and their friend enjoying our mild February:

And, as you can imagine, I got a big kick out of this… my little budding photographer, just like mama :)

Until next time! :)

I had an amazing photo session with these two lovebirds yesterday! Not only are they are drop-dead-gorgeous couple but also so sweet and FUN! I couldn’t help but include some of our funny outtakes amongst the pretty shots. It was extremely difficult to narrow it down to just a few because they were honestly all fabulous so forgive me for the length of this post :)

The setting is Hotel Palomar, one of my favorites in midtown Atlanta. Their modern yet inviting decor is breathtaking and the staff is top notch. This would be my choice of wedding venue if I were getting married in the city today; an intimate yet sophisticated retreat. The Hotel Palomar can accomodate up to 500 guests for cocktails and 370 for dinner. Catering is provided by their own Pacci Ristorante, which produces mouth-watering american and italian cuisine elegantly presented. For more information about having your wedding at this to-die-for venue please click on this link.

The exquisite gown is a Jasmine Haute Couture creation courtesy of Etain Bridal Boutique located in Ashley Park in Newnan. Etain offers a large and varied collection of designer bridal gowns in the South Atlanta area, but most important of all, they are NICE :) and down to earth. The ladies at Etain are committed to providing a personalized experience in finding and purchasing the most important gown you’ll ever wear. They also offer upscale mother of the bride, bridal party, and prom gowns.

Now on to my faves from yesterday:

Don’t quite remember what started this…

Soooo romantic…

This one makes me smile~

I love kids. I remember being in such a rush to grow up and now I long for the freedom of being a child. We think we’ll be free when we reach adulthood but little do we know that childhood is true freedom. I wish I could get that message across to my kids: enjoy that feeling of complete adventure and spontaineity that you have right now, absorb every minute of your innocence, but I sound like an adult when I say those things.

It took about a millisecond to convince these kids to lay on the grass and roll down the slope of their backyard; their parents are probably going to remember me for a long time thanks to my little idea. :)  If I could postpone twilight and hadn’t had 20 lbs. of photographic equipment on me, I would have rolled down the hill with them (again, adult thinking). In retrospect, I wish I would have and then their parents would remember me for a long time as a complete lunatic.

These kids have the most amazing personalities; we hit it off right away and although I didn’t roll down the hill with them we did hold hands and skipped down the road together. Here are some of my favorites from our afternoon.

Nothing melts my heart more than photographing a newborn baby. Like this proud papa said “children are a gift from God”; newborns always remind me of the amazing miracle that is life.

I spent my morning today with this sweet baby boy and his family. From our short time together I can tell that he will grow surrounded by so much love.

Thank you for welcoming me into your home and letting me photograph your little angel. Enjoy your sneak peek.

He is a fall baby so we played with pumpkins :)

Mesmerized by mom and dad…
