When I first started photographing weddings, like every other south florida wedding photographer, I made a significant investment in the latest and brightest gear so I could provide my clients with the best service. Or so I thought. Creating a product that stands apart from the competition had little to do with the right equipment and more related to the relationships I built with my clients. I got caught up on the illusion that more expensive equipment would create a more valuable product. Soon I found myself longing for the ease and the artistic introspection of using simple equipment, and especially, I missed my college days when I had just one roll of film and needed to complete my assignment on that one roll. I felt that the digital photography industry was very much focused in quantity, and I was someone in my core who believed in quality. I soon found myself dusting off my old film cameras and I ventured out to shoot my very first wedding using 100% only film.
